Server Improvements
Server Improvements
We are pleased to announce the second phase of our service upgrades, during this phase we will be upgrading all servers to the Apache 2.2.x branch and phasing out our dual PHP4/5 configuration to run PHP5 only. This upgrade will take place on the 31st of August 2008 between 19:00 and 23:00.
Why are you dropping PHP4?
As of August 2008 PHP4 will become end of life, this means that there will be no further security updates released from the developers for the 4.x branch of PHP. To ensure that our servers remain secure we will be dropping support for PHP4 from all of our servers, PHP5 will become the only version of PHP available on our services.
What do I need to do?
To ensure any scripts you have installed on your account continue to function after these changes please ensure you are running the latest version and check with the script developers for compatibility.
This notice currently only applies to customers on 'Pluto' our UK server.
During the maintenance window your site may appear offline for a few minutes whilst Apache and PHP are re-compiled, once the work has been completed we will send out a confirmation email to let you know. We would like to thank you in advance for your co-operation during these essential service upgrades.
New Servers
We have recently added new servers to our range. This will enable us to provide customers with a wider range of Hosting Plans including Reseller Accounts. Existing customers will find that their bandwidth and disk space allocation will increase with no increase in their monthly/yearly costs. We will make further announcements when all new servers are fully provisioned and tested.
Kind Regards
Fusion Hosting Support.
